This painting, with its mellow blues, browns and greys, captures the essence of an eternal coastal farewell – a meditative and lulling experience that feels like a gentle lullaby. It’s as if the very waves are whispering a soothing song of endless departure, each rise and fall a tender farewell that never truly ends. The interplay of colours evokes the tranquil beauty of the ocean, where the vibrant energy of the sea and the calm of the shore meet in a dance of perpetual motion. This piece is a celebration of the bittersweet beauty of goodbyes, where each moment of parting is intertwined with the promise of new beginnings, creating a harmonious and continuous embrace.

Part of a collection of works from Amica's solo Paradox at Art Images Gallery, Adelaide. Amica extends on her familiar sensibility for working with colour and form, to produce works with an elevated energetic charge. Though seemingly consistent with previous work, these new explorations consistently extend a sense of the sublime that captures and amplifies an essence, perhaps a metaphysical quality that transcends simple explanation, something that explores the concept of ‘self’ through notions of expansion and growth - while simultaneously engaging in a return trip to the core of being.

Either way, the works operate with a subtle newness. They introduce the next phase of exploration evidencing that Amica’s practice, as with nature, is in a gradual yet constant state of change. A living, breathing expression of life and the mystery of creation.
