The Art of Ambivalence

The Art of Ambivalence

Posted by Amica Aindow on

I’ve been thinking about the idea of ambivalence. I’ve always thought of the word in a negative way, as in not caring about something… but its really quite a cool word – which comes from combining two words “ambi” meaning two and “value” meaning to have worth. If this is the case – this led me to thinking how everything really has worth, and, at the same time, an absence of worth. Could ambivalence be a little bit like Yin and Yang – everything containing the seed of its opposite. Perhaps we don’t always have to know, or be certain, we can totally have mixed feelings about something. I’m pretty certain I have mixed feelings about a lot of things!

When people see things as good, evil is created.
