About the Piece

Like its namesake, the rich, bold Sicilian wine, this piece pours across the canvas with deep burgundy tones that whisper of earth and elegance.

Nero d'Avola emerged through my process of controlled chaos and mindful elimination, where layers of rich pigment were allowed to flow and blend with natural spontaneity before being refined into essential beauty. The deep wine hues create a visual meditation on strength contained within softness, a paradox I continually explore in my work.

In the negative space, you'll find what the Japanese call "Ma", the breathing room that gives meaning to what remains. This interplay between presence and absence invites you to pause in your own chaotic day and surrender to the calm that lives within complexity.
